Astipa takes part in study visit in Latvia for the Erasmus+ project “Treasury of Europe”
From March 26 to 31, 2025, ASTIPA took part in a study visit in Latvia as part of the Erasmus+ project Treasury of Europe (Skarbiec Europy). Organised by the Latvian project partner, the visit focused on the town of Jēkabpils and showcased how cultural and natural heritage can be promoted through local storytelling and active community participation.
During the visit, ASTIPA also presented the work carried out at the local level in Italy, illustrating current regional policies on place branding and territorial marketing as part of its contribution to the project.
Participants had the opportunity to explore concrete examples of how small towns can build a sense of identity and attract visitors by engaging residents, institutions, and grassroots organisations in shaping authentic narratives about their territory.
For ASTIPA, the visit was an enriching experience that highlighted the importance of combining communication, participation, and local pride in heritage-based development. Meeting partners in person and discovering the Latvian context first-hand gave new depth to the project and inspired new ideas for future activities.
The lessons learned in Latvia will contribute directly to the final event that ASTIPA is preparing in Italy, where storytelling, community involvement, and the promotion of lesser-known local assets will take centre stage.
